Let's start with all the gratitude entries I missed:
| November
15th Gratitude: Today I am thankful for HEAT! It's
currently -8F here in North Pole! BRRRRR!!!! When I opened
the sliding glass doors to feed the birds, it was frozen and
I had to give it a yank to get it to open. The garage doors
have been making a *POP* sound as the panels fold when the
door's on its way up, when the ice breaks loose between them.
There is a layer of ice at the bottom of the garage doors
where the water that has dripped off of Steve's thawing truck
has frozen. This is only the beginning... But how thankful
that my house is nice and warm! I'm also thankful for radiant
heat in my wood floors. I love walking barefoot on a warm
floor. |

16th Gratitude:
Today I am thankful for STASH
Licorice Spice Herbal Tea. My friend Celeste gave
me two tea bags to sample, and I'm hooked. I just love black
licorice (Steve hates it) and this tea is really tasty and
caffeine free, so I can enjoy it in the evening too. STASH
teas are delicious! My other favorite is the Pomegranate Raspberry
Green Tea. |

17th Gratitude: Today I am thankful for the talented
folks at the FLOT
(Fairbanks Light Opera Theater). What a fabulous
show we saw last night! (We saw the musical, Oklahoma) It
never ceases to amaze me that Fairbanks - for being a relatively
*small* town - can put on such entertaining performances.
This is the fourth musical I've attended here, and all have
been top-notch. |

18th Gratitude: Today I am thankful for having a
husband who likes to cook. If not for him, we'd both starve! |
| November
19th Gratitude: Today I am thankful for butterscotch
cocoa. (It's one of the flavors in the Land O' Lakes assortment
carton of cocoas) I stayed up all night working on photos
and it kept my energy levels up. It is really, really, good!
I think I like it more than the raspberry cocoa. |

20th Gratitude: I've had several invites to Thanksgiving
dinner from local friends - a few who were worried that Steve
is working and I'll be alone. Getting the invites via email
and telephone made me feel loved. I'm blessed to have such
wonderful people in my life. |

21st Gratitude: Today I am thankful that my husband
is off tomorrow and we'll be able to eat Thanksgiving dinner
at 3pm instead of 7pm. (last minute decision from his boss!)
I'm really looking forward to having him here while I prepare
dinner. But mostly I'm looking forward to sleeping in with
him tomorrow morning. |
I have not been doing much
more than working on photos: editing and resizing for my online
gallery (which I hope to have updated by December 7th) It is such
long and hard work, and I'm getting burned out, but it has to
be done.
I did take a break on Friday night, though. I had
a girl's night out with my friend Heidi. We went to dinner first,
and then went to the Herring Auditorium to see the musical Oklahoma.
It was Heidi's first time seeing Oklahoma, so it was all new to
her. I remember bits and pieces from when I was a little girl
and went to see Oklahoma with my mother.
When I was a pre-teen and young teen, my mother
used to take me to see musicals a few times a year. It was our
"Girls Night Out", and she'd leave my dad home with
the boys. She'd also take me out for the occasional movie on a
Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed having her all
to myself for those events, and I learned to love musicals and
classic movies.
The show on Friday was outstanding. It was opening
night and the theater was packed. Heidi and I really enjoyed ourselves
a lot. We saw Gip and Carmen there too, and they sat with us.
We giggled a little when we heard Carmen humming along with some
of the songs. I don't blame her - I was singing pretty loudly
in my head. Haha!
On Monday, Steve had an early physical therapy appointment.
The healing of his shoulder seems to be at a standstill. He asked
the doctor if he could have an MRI to see if there was anything
wrong, and the doctor thought it would be a good idea too.
After physical therapy, Steve picked me up and we
ran all of our errands before it was time for him to get the MRI
done. I took the car and ran even more errands while he was in
the clinic. I came back at 5:30pm as instructed, and the doctor
told me he had a really hard time injecting the contrast material
into Steve's shoulder. Apparently it was very painful for Steve,
and I felt terrible that I wasn't there with him to offer him
some comfort. I know I would have wanted him with me if I were
having something like that done. He didn't get out of there until
nearly 6:30, and he was wincing in pain even then. He hasn't heard
the results of the MRI yet.
We picked up the fixings for a quiet Thanksgiving
at home. We bought a turkey breast, since there's only the two
of us. We both prefer white meat anyway, so it will work out perfectly.
We're also having stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli
and cheese and dinner rolls. For dessert we picked up both a pecan
pie and a pumpkin pie. (I don't like pecan) Of course there's
whipped cream to go on top too - a necessity for pie!
Now that Steve has the day off, we will be eating
earlier than we originally planned. He has to work on Friday,
and there's no way I'll be out doing any of that "Black Friday"
shopping. I don't tolerate crowds as well as I used to. I get
too stressed out, and have had my ankles hit by shopping carts
enough times in my life! You'll find me right here, working on
my photos, website, and Christmas newsletter and cards.
My plate is so full, and I feel so overwhelmed at
times, but I find I do function best when I have a deadline. Don't
get me wrong... I will be glad when I can breathe easy again.
Here are a few photos I've taken over the last week.
