Thursday, March 6th - More Ice Art and First Friday

The weather has been wonderful lately. The horrible wind chills of last weekend disappeared - leaving highs in the 30s and even 40s in their wake. Despite the lovely weather, I spent much of my time preparing for tomorrow night's First Friday event. Last night, we all met at The Grange, to hang our photographs. I am so glad the hard part is over. Now all I have to do is show up tomorrow night.

I added frames to the photos I will be exhibiting (in Photoshop), so that they would look pretty close to how they look hanging on the wall. Here are the photos I chose to show (Click to enlarge):

I have seven 11x14s matted to 16x20 and four 8x10s matted to 11x14

Now that the hard part is done, I'm looking forward to socializing with people from the community. If you live local, please stop by!

On Tuesday, I took Sedona out for a ride. My first stop was the Ice Park to watch the sculptors carving and building the multi-block sculptures. It was a gorgeous sunny day and so warm that I didn't need a hat nor gloves. I spent more than an hour at the park. I haven't been to the park at night yet - when they are lit up with colored lights - but hope to get there on Saturday night with Steve. Here are some photos showing the work that goes into these beautiful and intricate creations:

Next weekend, Chatanika Days will be held - in Chatanika, of course. We're looking forward to human bowling, outhouse races, snowmachine races, and other events. I hope this weather holds up. Last year, it was so cold we could only spend an hour there before our faces froze off!

In less than two weeks, we're leaving for Homer for a few days. We're both looking forward to seeing the eagles again, and Steve's signed up to participate in the Winter King Tournament. My friend Angie is going to be in Homer at the same time, so I plan to spend some time with her while Steve's out fishing. I'd also like to get together with Chris and Ken while we're in town.

Off to bed for me.... I've had too many late nights. Steve's off for the next couple of days, so it's time to catch up on some missed snuggle time.

Until next time...
